Changes On Second-Third And Final Draft

First things first, we took the logo, stuck it in Photoshop, cut the background, put it into Final Cut, layered it up again, went to motion, rotation, and basically made it rotate! I think this works quite well and is a nice touch.

A huge thing to note is that we now have the piano in the song! As you know, this was an issue for us because the piano player could not make it to the shooting. However, after research, I found that Muse- Starlight and Queen- Only The Good Die Young (at the end after Brian May swaps instruments) have piano in the audio, but not in the visuals. This gave us confidence.

A second change is that, after viewing more videos, such as one by You Me At Six, I can't remember the song, but it's off their first album, I think I've seen it in a Paramore video too where they have a black and white shot and bring all the whites up. I did this to all the black and white shots we have to try and make it look more professional.

Thirdly, I went through and literally went crazy on the colours of the live shots. My teacher took me through a live Led Zeppelin video, Good Times Bad Times and showed me the way the light and colours are used to reflect and enhance the performers. I basically made the colours stronger using the colour corrector effect and tried to make the shots look slightly psychadellic, and hopefully better.

Lots of changes to the second verse. Firstly, I brought the white of the background up to make it look as if there was special lighting being used and that all lights were on the band. Secondly I used two splitscreens, one showing all members in 4 shots, the other all members in 2 shots. I think these combined work really well together and make the second verse a lot better. It also creates a link between old fashioned out and out rock videos and more modern rock style videos, which links to the music because these two things are linked in the music.

I added a couple more performance shots in the second chorus, and a couple of sound check shots which link to the small narrative of the video which kind of snuck up on us. We had not planned much of a narrative, but due to all the locations and the way it builds up, there kind of is a really small narrative showing what it's like to be in this band.

I changed all the shots in the second breakdown, linking them all with the rhythm.

In the guitar solo I tried to make it a bit more creative by using the split screen twice more and once using an edge feather crop effect to make it look as if the guitarist is there twice.

These are all the changes we made and we are both happy with the way the video has turned out.

We will now be uploading it to Youtube and getting more feedback.
