Editing

We edited our film on numerous amounts of days and it took longer then filming. We always edited the day after filming to analyse our shots and see if we needed to change anything or film anything extra that day. We made our own soundtrack and the heartbeats to create tension and match how the character is feeling. (Heartbeat raises as he starts to progress through the alley.) Our soundtrack was loud and in the rock genre because it matched the footage and sounded good with the atmosphere of the film at that point. There was another non diegetic sound we put before the deal scene. This was to give the exchange more atmosphere and put the characters feelings across and make the audience know that something is shady. Staggy edited the whole film cutting all the individual shots shorter getting rid of unneccesary footage. He also edited the whole soundtrack during the film fading out volumes when needed. The whole film was letterboxed apart from the point of view shots to make it look like you are actually there witnessing it. The only transition used in the film was at the end when we faded out. The opening shot was a still shot to set the scene. The editing phase took alot of time and patience and thankfully we had a man who met all that criteria in St. Christopher Stagg I. He did the majority of the editing and I feel guilty about not helping as much as I could of. We are happy with the final film and want to stop blogging now because it is boring. We will go and fix the transition problem in our film now and then come back and upload our storyboard. Tara for now , Chris and Harry.

Inspirations

Our inspirations are as follows :
Peter Jackson - We wanted to use shots like his. (The oblique shots , Speech Sequence) He is also very succesful at film making (Lord Of The Rings and King Kong) We want to be like him (Very Succesful)

Finishing our filming

We finished our filming on a Friday rounding off the exchange sequence and filming the ending. We decided to have a wide/two shot of the two killers to show them as together and a team. We followed Towey with a camera two cause suspense and to show that the audience knew what was coming but Towey didn't. Because of Staggy being in the film now we needed Amps and Towey to do a bit of filming and Stan Evans also helped us out cos all his friends went away at lunch. We made sure that we had all our perfect shots and actually filmed atleast one more shot for all the different parts of our film on that day to broaden our variety of shots available to us. (The shot of Money Man and Drug Man meeting) Once we were happy with all our shots we finished filming and went back to school happy and peaceful about our footage.

Shooting the majority of the film

This blog will include the details of the second and third day of filming. The second day we filmed shots we needed and knew would definitely be in our film unlike the first day where we were just experimenting with shots. The third day we did shots that we thought would look good and that may not have originally be planned by us and extra shots we filmed just as we went along that may of helped us in editing , one of these shots was in our film (The shot of Luke Amp in the overgrown shrubbery) Comparing these two days of filming to the rest of our days they were far more succesful as we had more of a structure then the first day and knew what we wanted to film thanks to our experimental day of filming. Day two and three of filming took us some time to do because of the weather being poor and ruining our continuity. We tried to make the shots look as if Towey was being watched or followed and we also filmed our Point Of View shots to make it realistic and try and cause suspense. We did not finish our filming in these two days though , we only finished the exchange scene and touched up on the sequence before the door. The parts we still needed to finish was the ending sequence. Stagg filmed all of this over the two days.

First Day Of Shooting

We filmed our first parts of the movie through Luncheon and Study on Monday afternoon. We did this as a "first draft" just testing out different shots and how the film would be shot basically. Only a few of the shots from the first day are still in our film as we believed they could be improved. The shots that we did include from the first day of filming were: The whole kitchen sequence apart from a few shots in there and the walking sequence. At the time we thought it went quite well however we tried to rush for a finish in the first day which made some of the shots look scruffy and have to be filmed again in the next few days. This was when we decided to film again a number of times to make each part of the film have a variety of shots but all of the same context and upload after every session to make sure everything was near perfect and nothing needed filming again and also that if a shot did not look good enough we could easily replace it with a shot from a different angle. Because of this process filming happened accross a week and took approximately 4 lunches and 2 study lessons. However it was worth it as it made editing process much more easier. We tested out many locations on the first day and it helped us decide what we are gonna have in our film (The shots in the alley way) We learnt from our first day of filming to take more care and time with everything be it filming or editing. We took notice of this for the rest of the days we filmed not worrying about finishing in time. Peace Out breda

Planning

Planning our movie took about 2 lessons and was reletively easy as we both agreed alot. We both both made parts of the story board however Chris made the first draft of it. We came up with our idea of the basic outline of our film by co-operatively discussing both our ideas then storyboarded and wrote out the plot of it together. We decided that our main character would wear black and be seen as smaller as the movie progresses. This is because we wanted him to seem like he was nervous or cautious. We also did this to make him seem mysterious and secretive. Whilst Staggy made the storyboard and wrote out the plot Harry planned where the shots would be shot and what the characters would wear. The reason we put Luke Amp in a shirt and tie is because he is a well off rich drug user simply known as , "Money Man" to his companions. We decided that he would look bigger then Towey in the shots because he is more dominant and has the more power over the deal. The killers were in smart casual because they are mental and think they are all suave James Bond killers although they do it the old fashioned way with ye olde pitch fork and club of Golf. We decided the setting of Harrys house because of the current state of it , it was perfect for what we wanted. (Smashed up bath tub in garden) The alley way was behind Harry's house and was his idea to film in to begin with as it was a good setting. Staggy decided all the shots that we would originally do in the planning stage whilst we discussed shots that we thought could be better , some of the shots in our build up to opening the door are a perfect example of this. (The oblique shot of Towey.) We will upload our storyboard in the next hour.
